The Redwoods Nature School serves Del Norte and Curry Counties by providing a space where kids and parents can create a relationship with nature and learn important life skills.

Welcome to our Nature School! This program is a bi-monthly outdoor program for children ages 0 to 14 that runs from September to June. Twice a month, on Mondays, children spend the day at one of the many unique natural wonders in Del Norte or Curry County. As our program is held during a 'school day', this program supports mostly homeschooling families.

Using a child-centered approach, our children engage and build a relationship with nature. We have separate programs for younger and older ages. With our younger ages, we use a child/caregiver approach that keeps the children feeling comfortable while they explore a new area. Mentors skilled in natural, traditional and ancestral skills lead our older kids through self-awareness, survival skills, and creating curiosity about the natural world.

Our Nature Program visits local wilderness areas that allow children to encounter, observe and interact with nature, and unstructured places where they may roam. Locations that we visit include our local beaches, special spots in the Redwood National and State Parks, natural wonders in the Six Rivers National Forest, and many more!

All photography has been provided by our local families.
